Prior to co-founding XXIII Capital Inc., Matt was directly involved in the execution of advisory mandates with a total value in excess of C$40 billion relating to asset acquisitions and divestitures; corporate mergers, acquisitions, sales, restructurings, recapitalizations and hostile takeovers/defense; fairness opinions and valuations; global initial public offerings and secondary equity issuances; private and public convertible, preferred debt and bond financings; commercial, corporate and project financing; and broad strategic alternatives processes.
This included various roles with the largest commercial real estate services firm in Canada, including managing a commercial brokerage team of over 80, serving as the interim Canadian chair of global capital markets and finally in an investment sales capacity; investment banking positions with TD Securities, National Bank Financial and Blackmont Capital (CI Financial); and working in Toronto as a mergers & acquisitions specialist.
Through the course of his career, he has marketed over 4 million square feet of commercial property and in excess of 27 million fee simple mineral title or gross overriding royalty acres across Canada and the United States.
He has most recently been advising Canadian pension funds, REITs, developers and private and publicly-traded companies on the acquisition and disposition of commercial real estate properties in an investment sales capacity. That has included industrial, office, retail, mixed-use, multi-family development, hospitality & resort and controlled environment agricultural mandates located across Alberta, Saskatchewan and British Columbia.
Matt has been a CFA® charterholder, Chartered Financial Analyst Institute since 2011. He was formerly licensed under RECA for commercial real estate activity in Alberta and under FINRA for investment banking activities in the United States. Matt graduated from the Haskayne School of Business at the University of Calgary with a B.Com in Finance.

Immediately prior to co-founding XXIII Capital Inc., Taylor was overseeing strategic corporate development and restructuring activities for a trio of family-owned companies, including home building, foreign manufacturing/import/export and retail sales businesses. She formerly worked in a commercial real estate investment sales capacity wherein she was part of a team that marketed over 4 million square feet of property including industrial, office, retail, mixed-use, multi-family, development land, hospitality, resort and controlled environment agricultural mandates.
She formerly worked with Hugessen Consulting providing exclusive Board-side advisory consultancy to domestic and international, public and private entities. She began her career working as a Commercial Underwriting Manager with ATB Financial, focused on small cap, private real estate and agricultural lending.

Mr. Cockwell is the Managing Partner of Ursataur Capital Management, a private equity firm he founded in 2009 that strategically invests in Canadian mid-market companies across various industries. Andrew also has extensive private and public commercial and residential real estate interests. He holds a track record of fostering value creation for both private and public companies, advising on issues such as strategic realignment, operational improvement, capital allocation, and governance.
Previously, Mr. Cockwell was a Founding Partner of ReichmannHauer Capital Partners in 2006, a Toronto-based private equity firm targeting both domestic and international investments. He also served in the Private Equity and Corporate Finance practices at global management consulting firm McKinsey & Company, which he joined in 2003 and where he advised businesses, private equity firms, and hedge funds in North America and Europe. Earlier in his career, he practiced M&A and securities law as an attorney at Sullivan & Cromwell in New York and London.
Mr. Cockwell holds a breadth of experience providing financial and legal advisory services in a variety of complex business contexts across a wide range of industries, including commercial real estate, industrial coatings, ground support, financial services, and food and retail. Mr. Cockwell holds a Bachelor of Art (Hons.) from Queen’s University and an LL.B. with Great Distinction from the Faculty of Law at McGill University.
